Cycling rate for seasonal farms

We have improved the cycling rate page, to make it more suitable for seasonal farms! Instead of having to select a custom period, you can now simply select one of your mating seasons to view the run-up towards it:

How it works

For each mating season, you can specify the expected start of calving. All animals that have calved, or are expected to calve, between this date and the start of the selected insemination season, are considered eligible. The voluntary waiting period is disregarded.

Of these eligible animals:

The “Over time” graph shows the percentage of cycling animals. A score of 100% means that all your eligible animals are cycling and you’re fully ready for the insemination season.

The “DIM” graph shows the percentage of cycling animals distributed per DIM. Unlike before, the x-axis is not limited to the voluntary waiting period anymore. Instead, it has been extended to show the maximum DIM of animals that are eligible for the selected mating season. This way, all eligible animals are included and you gain great insight into how fast your animals are recovering and ready for the season.

These changes allow you to easily compare your performance across seasons and provide immediate insight if you’re on the right track for next one!

Heat improvements

Judging of heat alerts

Previously Nedap Now only had options to judge active heat alerts (on the In heat and/or To inseminate work list), but now you can also judge heat alerts afterwards on the Reproduction checks worklist and on the Calendar page in the Cow app.

Reproduction checks worklist

On the reproduction checks worklist, you can now reject a heat alert

  • that triggered an abortion warning.

  • that triggered an irregular heat

When you handle such a work item with action “No heat’ then the most recent heat will be rejected.

Calendar page in Cow app

The calendar page now displays all heats, including those based on tag data. The corresponding heat alert scores (stars) will be also be visible. By default the heat alerts that were marked as no heats (typically the 1 and 2 star heat alerts) are not displayed, but you have an option to show them as well. This can be used to still approve these heat alerts if needed.

Reproduction timeline

We extended the reproduction timeline, also showing the judgements of the heat alerts. This way you can easily see if you approved or rejected a heat alert.
